I WANT A DOGGY!!!: a child's perspective

*This story is "sponsored" by PETA*

I went to Timmy's house to go on a playdate. While I was there, Timmy showed me his new dog. He was so cute. He had his own little tricks that he could do on command and it was really cool. That made me think that I want A Doggy.
I want a doggy to play with and enjoy when my toys are boring. I want a doggy to see when I come home from school and hug every time they come to the door. I want a doggy to be my playmate when my parents are at work. I want a doggy to pet and cuddle with when I am sad. I want a doggy that encourages me to face my fears of venturing into the basement. I want a doggy so I can play catch in the backyard with it.
I want a doggy that follows me through the neighborhood when I am biking to the playground. I want a doggy that I can walk around the neighborhood on a leash whenever I am walking on the side walks. I want a doggy that can catch a frisbee when I feel like throwing one to it. I want a doggy so I can teach it new tricks and have it learn new things.
I want a doggy that does what I tell it to do. I want a doggy that if I don’t want to walk it around the neighborhood, I don’t have to without it crying and pouting. I want a doggy that if I forget to feed, won’t complain and tell me that I forgot. I want a doggy that will wear cute costumes and sweaters outside in the winter even though it doesn’t want to wear it. I want to have a doggy…
“Billy!” Said mommy, “How many times do I have to tell you that we are not getting you a dog! You are too young and we wouldn’t be able to take care of it properly.”
“I know! I know! I just want a doggy that would be my friend!”
“Billy, you know that you don’t mean that. Plus if it weren't for your father and I, it would be left to fend for itself.” I didn’t want to hear her say that so I threw a tantrum.
“MOMMYY!!! I WANT A DOGGY!!!!”

  1. Chloe! I love how you were able to follow Brady's format and apply it to something often taken for granted. I didn't even consider how pets are often a selfish concept and are for the owner's desires only!

  2. I liked how you were able to take Brady's format from "I Want a Wife" and were able to create your own take on it. This creativity was really helpful in showing how we often take dogs for granted.
