Names
Names are always a weird thing to me. There are companies and websites dedicated towards finding the perfect name for you child, people with extreme opinions of what their name means (I am talking to you Karens), and parents desperately searching for the perfect name for their child.
My parents were part of this desperate searching, trying to find a name that would fit their daughter, but instead of finding a name on their own, they searched the one resource that could help, the family tree. They searched through the generations trying to find a good name. Finally they found my fathers great great grandmother Chloe Pottenger and got their inspiration.
But that was before they gave up on being creative, which may have been for the best.
My parents have explained that it would be hard for them to name me if I was a boy. They had came up with a few contenders that make me laugh. My mom was really supporting the name Martian (which is one of the most normal names on their list) however, my father thought the name Nigel was a fitting name for a 21st century guy. However my favorite name that they considered was the name Geoffrey. What are these names???
But this is why I find names odd. My parents before consulting family albums and family trees were stressing over a combination of a few letters. I understand that most names have meaning and sentimental value like mine does, but personally I know that no matter what my name was, my parents and friends would like me the same and that is what counts.
